The Remaining (2014) Review:

The Remaining is your usual catastrophe movie except with a horror twists. It features nothing less than the end of the world, as described in The Rapture chapter from The Bible, and let me tell you…I hope this never happens because it sure looks awfully stressful!

The movie starts as any catastrophe movie, by introducing a group of young people that are to be followed throughout the all movie. Thankfully, the introduction is not long and the movie quickly gets into business by killing half of the planet inhabitant within the first 30 minutes. This leaves us with a good hour of entertaining apocalypse. The plagues are diverse enough to keeps the level of entertainment high. The movie does not show much, probably because of limited budget, but it works out well and a good amount of tension is created.

Looking at it objectively, The Remaining is a predictable and generic apocalypse movie, but at least it is an enjoyable one. The characters are not annoying are they can be in this type of movies, and science fiction elements spice up the scenario just enough to make the story entertaining. A good surprise.
