A bachelor party turns to hell when teens land on a deserted island that proves to be infected by a deadly flesh-eating virus.
After a couple of decent Cabin Fever movies by Eli Roth and Ti West, the directing of this third opus was trusted to unknown figure Kaare Andrews, a choice that proves rather catastrophic considering the quality of this sequel.
Considering the exciting title, I was hoping to discover the roots of the infection itself and hopefully, an interesting story. Instead, we see a group of people landing on an island that host a facility where the virus is studied – which could have been a good idea – but we simply don’t know if this happens after or before the other movies. This lack of context annoyed me, but that was only the first upset of a long list. The movie scenario is messy and, despite a few surprises, is mostly unexciting. There is too much talking and not enough action… and in a Cabin Fever movie, this is just a mistake that cannot be overlooked.
So yes, apart from an awesome cat-fight towards the end between two grossly infected girls, the movie dramatically lacks of action. If it wouldn’t be for the horrific make up, it would almost feel like an infection movie like Outbreak or Contagion… expect in much less interesting.
I found myself really bored and had a hard time finishing this one… the 3 point I gave are for the superb make up and the one great fight scene!
