I am quite unsure whether this movie really belongs to the horror genre, or to the fantasy genre. Considering the number of atrocious things happening in it, I decided that it belonged to both I am not fond of the fantasy genre but this one got a very, very dark atmosphere that makes it stand apart. The main villain, the necromancer, is a brilliant and surprising personage, played beautifully by Carice van Houten (Games of Thrones). The rest of the characters are also great, forming an interesting bunch of heroes, and the acting of all really credible. The presence of Sean Bean (Silent Hill, Lord of the Ring, Games of Thrones) adds much to the film. Overall, this a captivating movie that grasps well the creepy atmosphere of these dark ages. The little pinch of supernatural is also very welcome. Overall, I highly recommended this film to both horror and fantasy lovers.
