Antichrist (2009) Review:

Antichrist is an odd and twisted film about the descent into madness of a couple after the death of their child. Even if classified as horror, Antichrist is not really the type of “horror” we all know, for it does not really intend to scare, but instead makes everything possible to destabilize and shock its viewers.

The disturbed character of the woman, well-played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, really is insane. She does a good job at making you feel sorry for her husband, who is comprehensive at first but also becomes crazy too due to the circumstances. The fact that the all movie happens in a remote cabin into the wood helps to create an atmosphere of oppression and loneliness.

Thereee are a lot of graphic scenes. A small amount of gore, and also a lot of nudity and sex scenes, but not the kind of nudity or sex that one would enjoy watching, Antichrist really is a tale of ugliness and pain!

I guess it is one of these artist movies that hide a deep meaning behind. I personally did not understand it and, most importantly, did not want to. The film is really lengthy and totally failed at immersing me. Good if you like drama story, but not for horror fans.
