Synopsis:
A deadly virus breaks loose in a futuristic underground facility and turns everyone into zombies. Waking up amnesic after the incident, Alice is sent, along with a team of military, to shut down the complex’s main computer.
Review:
This first episode of the Resident Evil franchise series was really made to look like the video game…and greatly succeeds. People who played it will recognize particular scenes and monsters from the games. Most importantly the stressful atmosphere that made the success of the video game is well reproduced here. Video game adaptation into movie tend to suck quite bad, but I think we can say that this one of the first horror game adaptation to the screen that makes it to the rank of classic (the brilliant Silent Hill wasn’t released yet).The futuristic aspect of the movie is great, and some of the scenes in the Umbrella complex are looks really neat (e.g. the laser scene). Personally, I would have wished the movie to be more horror oriented (the game was so creepy sometimes!!) instead of action-oriented, but still, there is a reasonable amount of zombie goodness in it.
