It looks like Dimension may finally be getting it together and bringing us a complete disc set for GRINDHOUSE. I have never understood why Dimension handled this project the way they did. It should have been a blockbuster at the theater, which it wasn't and it should have kicked ass on DVD, which it didn't.
Maybe now when they FINALLY release it the way it was meant to be seen on DVD the fans will get behind it and prove it to be the true classic that it is.
BLU-RAY.com is reporting that DIMENSION is prepping a 2 disc release for a late Aug or early Sept. and WALMART is showing a 3 disc version ready by Dec.
This is great news.
Here is part of what they have posted:
An early announcement to retailers indicates that Genius Products and
The Weinstein Company are set to release Robert Rodriguez and Quentin
Tarantino's 'Grindhouse' on Blu-ray on August 11. No edition details
are available, other than this would be a two-disc set, but it may well
be the theatrical Grindhouse double feature.
'Grindhouse' was conceived, edited and shown theatrically (in
the US) as a typical exploitation double-feature as one could attend at
cheap theaters in the 1970s: it consisted of two features ('Planet
Terror', by Robert Rodriguez, and 'Death Proof' by Quentin Tarantino),
interspersed with fake trailers and bumpers.
No "official" announcement from anyone involved yet but it will be showing up shortly so start saving your pennies now, you've got a few months.
