Although the DVD version of this film loses quite a bit of its luster it still ends up being  a fun faced paced horror romp that I really enjoyed the hell out of.

It's a shame they couldn't find a way to bring that awesome 3D experience home that they treated us to in the theaters.  For the DVD release we get the old red and green standard and the film suffers for it.

The 3D experience was what really set this film off and raised it above the standard remake fare that we have come to expect.  Without it it's well just kind of ordinary.  Not that thats a bad thing, it's just a bit of a shame.

The film still has something major going for it though.  Yep, Tom Atkins still kicks ass in it and you should watch the film if for no other reason that to watch Atkins weave his way through the story.  Tons of fun.

Oh yeah and the other reason.  That crazy long ass nude scene.  It was awesome in 3D and still fun in 2D.

As a slasher film MBV is pretty standard fare and it holds relatively close to the storyline of the much under appreciated original.  MBV, the original should have been a slasher classic instead of the under ground cult film that it has become.  The Harry Warden characer has all the appeal of Jason and his iconic status should have been a lock but he just never seemed to catch on.  Much like the Cropsey from THE BURNING.  Never understood that one either.

Some fun inventive kills in MBV3D most of which the good 3D really added to but they are still effective.  Really, if you have not seen in the 3D you won't know the difference.

I've got all the important info for you below so read on for all the specs.  Just keep in mind the MBV is fun slasher fare that is certainly worthy of your time.

Ten years ago in the town of Harmony, an inexperienced coal miner caused an accident that trapped and killed five men and sent the only survivor, Harry Warden, into a coma.  When Harry woke, exactly one year later on Valentine’s Day, he wanted revenge and brutally murdered 22 people with a pickaxe before being killed himself.  Now, after years of peace, something from Harmony’s dark past has returned.  Wearing a miner’s mask and armed with a pickaxe, an unstoppable killer is on the loose.  As his footsteps come ever closer, the townspeople realize in terror that it just might be Harry Warden who has found his way back.
