I suppose sometimes I'm an easy mark.  We all are sometimes.

I really enjoy being surprised by a film.  I get a lot of films sent my way and most I know about but every now and then one sneaks in and just grabs hold of me and won't let go.  It's not that it's that great of a film mind you.  I'm sure many of you will snicker lightly to yourself as you read this but I'm telling you SHUTTLE is a great little film.

Starring a bunch of no ones and once again treading into much used territory SHUTTLE tells the tale of a couple of hotties on their way home from a last fling before one of them gets married.  They get into the airport late and of course one of their bags are missing.

After filling out the paperwork they head out to the street to head on home.  They board an airport shuttle bus and their lives change forever.

Although no real ground is covered here it is presented in a very tightly wound little package and the fear and suspense is almost heart stopping at points.  I think the main reason this film works as well as it does is the fact that the characters are very well written and acted.  You really get involved in what these folks are going through and the portrayals are both believable and heart felt.

Quite a few twists and turns evolve and to share them with you would not be fair to your viewing.  Needless to say when you think you have it all figured out think again because if veers off on several different occasions and actually really rocked my world a few times.  Saw a lot of this film coming but there are parts when I just shook my head and said "where the hell did that come from".

I like it when that happens.

Also the way they filmed this one is quite interesting.  As the film progresses and the characters futures looks bleaker and bleaker the colors in the film begin to fade.  At some of the darker moments in the film it is almost completely black and white.  The cool thing is is that it is done so slowly and discreetly that you actually don't even notice it.  When it finally dawned on me that the color was gone I actually messed around with  my setting because I thought maybe something was wrong with my player.  Nope, nothing wrong just some cool ass film making.

Long story short.  Go get this movie.  It's a good one.

Here's the official synopsis and such from the studio:

When two friends return home from a girls' weekend vacation in Mexico, they find themselves stranded at the airport.  Rain-drenched and eager to get home, they board an airport shuttle for what should be a short trip.  However once their feet cross the threshold of the shuttle, the night rapidly descends into darkness and they no longer worry about just getting home - but getting home in one piece.  Discovering that actions have severe consequences, Mel and Jules soon learn the only thing more terrifying about not knowing where they are going is learning that they may not be coming back. Written and directed by Flawless writer Edward Anderson, the disturbing joyride gone-wrong features Peyton List ("Mad Men," "Big Shots"), Cameron Goodman ("Mad Men," Frozen Kiss, Hurt, The Informers) and Tony Curran (The Good German, The Lazarus Project, Underworld: Evolution).
