Okay, this story was debunked about as quickly as it was brought up.
According to MTV, Darren Lynn Bousman (the Saw films, Repo: The Genetic Opera) would love to do an entry in the Leprechaun series where the diminutive anti-hero journeys to the Old West and gets involved in, I guess, all manner of Western-movie hijinks. This doesn't sound much different (or much better) than the immortal Leprechaun 4: In Space, which transplanted the leprechaun in sci-fi.
If you remember, he did battle with the villainous cyborg Dr. Mittenhand, Juwanna Mann, and a cross-dressing, nunchuk-wielding robot.
But just as soon as this story broke, Bousman clarified on his Myspace blog that he was just kidding around: "While promoting Repo - people have asked me about it... I joke with all of them... HELL YES, Leprechaun in the old west."
Ignoring Bousman's dismissal: is this an appealing idea? Sound off in our forums.

All directors must do this with their hands; otherwise, no one takes them seriously. |
