Told you about MIDNIGHT MOVIE a while back. A great little slasher film that I fear not many of you have bothered to check out yet.
You should, it's really very good.
It's coming out on Blu-Ray on Oct. 13th and it's out now on standard DVD. The folks behind the film sent along a nice little clip that I thought you might enjoy.
Here's all the info on the Blu-Ray release:
Bigfoot Entertainment announces that its feature horror film
Midnight Movie will be available on Blu-ray Disc beginning October 13th.
Currently available on DVD, Midnight Movie (www.bigfoot.com/midnightmovie)
recently won Best Feature Film & Best Cinematography at the Chicago Horror
Film Festival, and was chosen as DVD of the month for March 2009 by renowned
horror film fan publication Fangoria. Consumers can purchase the Blu-ray
Disc version of the film through major retailers.
Upon its release last year, Midnight Movie garnered
attention and praise in the horror movie world, including being dubbed A true
modern day horror classic by Movieweb.com. Additionally, it has been
called Perfect fear fare! (Fangoria Magazine), The #1 horror film of the
year! (Fatally-Yours.com), and Gorezone Magazine said: “5 out of 5 stars!
To say that this film absolutely kicks ass would be the understatement of the
year!”
In addition to extras such as Trailers and Outtakes, Midnight
Movie on Blu-ray will include a new featurette, Additional Shooting: A
Storyboard Comparison.
Exploring how a traditional slasher genre could gratify
modern audiences who have embraced the trend towards supernatural horror films,
Midnight Movie takes place in a run-down theater in a sleepy suburban
town. A group of friends congregate for a midnight screening of an early
1970s cult horror film, whose director / star is believed to have died five
years earlier in a psych ward massacre. However, the detective and doctor
who witnessed the bloody aftermath suspect the director was not a victim at
all. What everyone has yet to understand is that the director comes alive
when the movie is viewed and that the unwary moviegoers will be dragged into
the same film they are watching.
Due to the supernatural nature of our story, we were able to
create a villain that paid homage to the past, but with a fresh approach.
It was fun to explore what a more traditional slasher villain would do in
a film today, said Jack Messitt, Writer / Director of Midnight Movie. When
shooting the gruesome climax of Midnight Movie, we retreated a bit from the
obvious gore because I believe what you don't see is much scarier and
ultimately more satisfying. The mind will always fill in the gaps in a
much more terrifying way than a filmmaker can portray.
