Fangoria got word that Dean Devlin (pictured), the man behind Godzilla and Independence Day has taken over the reins of the long rumored project ISOBAR. The budget for the film is reported to be $70 million and at one time had Rick Baker attached to handle the FX duties.
Here are the details from the Fango article:
The original script (written by FIGHT CLUBs Jim Uhls) took place on a runaway train with a rampaging plant creature onboard. (The same basic premise was utilized by the Sci Fi Channels ALIEN EXPRESS earlier this year, with Lou Diamond Phillips and Todd Bridges riding the rails.) According to the current synopsis, ISOBAR takes place in 2097, where mankind has been forced to live underground due to the destruction of the Earths ozone layer. A magnetic railroad system shuttles 1,000 passengers at a time from NY to LA to Tokyo, but soon an unwanted stowaway begins making monstrous mischief.
