As I sit here watching this piece of exploitation dreck I find myself wondering just how in the hell the horror genre has let itself decay to the point that we actually have to consider something like BROKEN to actually be a horror film.

In this post HOSTEL, DEVIL'S REJECTS, CAPTIVITY environment that we find ourselves in it is kind of hard to imagine a film sinking to any lower depths of torture depravity but BROKEN seems to have found a way to do it. The first in the DEMENSION EXTREME series of films BROKEN tells that tale of a lady being held captive by some goof ball in a trench coat and cowboy hat who takes great pleasure in hanging our girl from a tree and asking her if she “would like to continue”

Stupid and useless on just about every level a film can be BROKEN refers to the fact that our cowboy hat goof likes to capture women and then “break” them into submissiveness reducing them to mere shells of their former selves.

We are introduced to our main character as she is out on a date. She returns home to relieve the baby sitter and heads to here daughters room where she dozes off. She awakens buried alive, bloody and confused.

What follows is a day by day account of her dealings with her captor. Her attempted escapes and ultimate complete breakdown. It's not scary, it's not interesting but it is gross and cruel oh yeah, and stupid.

On the upside the effects are top notch and I did like the lighting in the film, it looks great. That really is about the only thing positive I can say about this one.

Let's hope that this whole torture porn trail has come to an end. It's not entertaining, it's not artistic, hell, it ain't nothing but disturbing and I'm officially tired of it.

One very cool thing though is the packaging for the film. Very original and almost worth the SRP in and of itself you really need to see it to appreciate it.

So, bottom line, if you enjoy watching folks demeaned and tortured to the point that they descend into a madness that rivals that of their antagonist then this may be the film for you.

If you're looking for an entertaining, original horror film just keep on walking right on pass this one.
