Freddy in Hi Def. Is it to good to be true?
The answer is no. It is here. If nothing else good comes out of this new remake and the attention that it has brought to the whole franchise then let this be that one thing.
The original Wes Craven masterpiece, a true classic in every sense of the word has found its way to blu-ray and it is worthy of our time and money.
First off lets just get this out of the way. From what I can tell this is basically the same release that we got in the INFINIFILM edition that came out a few years back. The NEVER SLEEP AGAIN featurette
(which by the way has nothing to do with the new feature length retrospactive coming out soon) is present and if you haven't seen it, now is your chance, THE HOUSE THAT FREDDY BUILT and NIGHT TERRORS and also present once again.
A couple of commentary tracks, alternate endings and some trivia, all that were on that INFINIFILM release but of course in Hi-Def.
The only thing that may be different, and I don't own the INFINIFILM release so I don't know for sure, is the READY FREDDY FOCUS POINTS.
Regardless, there is a TON of extra stuff to do on this BD release. Watching the feature is really just scratching the surface of the fun that lies waiting for your attention.
I'm not a tech geek so I'm just telling you straight up, this is the best I have ever seen this film look. I don't know anything about aspect ratios and saturation, blah, blah, blah. I just know that this release looks and sounds extremely great. I think it is actually more impressive that watching it on the big screen. This is freaking awesome.
Oh yeah, you also get some movie money that gives you $7.50 off when you go check out the remake. Can't beat that, right.
So, what else really needs to be said about this one. It's Freddy, It's classic, It's a no brainer. If you have gone blu-ray then this is one that MUST be in your collection.
