J.J. ABRAMS loves to screw around with folks.  Especially with fans of his work.  Look at LOST and FRINGE.  Crazy stuff.  Remember back when CLOVERFIELD was hot and the rumor was that somehow it was going to tie into LOST?

This dude knows how to build a buzz and he does it by just not saying anything.  He lets peoples speculations do all the work.  Truly genius.

Latest case in point:  Seems that a never talked about little film called SUPER 8 is going to be having a trailer premiere this weekend shipping with prints of IRON MAN 2.

Here's the deal, it's being widely reported that SUPER 8 is in fact a prequel to CLOVERFIELD.  A prequel?  Really?  Even though the film itself isn't directed by Abrams he apparently directed the trailer.

I know that I am intrigued to find out what this is all about

Of course Abrams is not saying a thing so we'll all just have to wait till this weekend and see if the trailer casts any light on what is going on.  Chances are the trailer will just leave us with more questions.  Kind of a trademark Abrams thing to do.
