If you're a fan of the classic Romero films, I'm talking DAY OF THE DEAD and earlier then this show is for you. THE WALKING DEAD is what the last few Romero films should have been. It's the classic zombie brought into the new age. If you watch those films you should be watching this.
I sure have been and I've been loving every mintue of it. I mean, what's not to love. Fantastic FX, great acting and most importantly really strong character driven writing that doesn't skimp on the action yet still manages to be smart and touching.
That's why the following news kind of surprised me. Seems that series creator FRANK DARABONT is cleaning house and I'm not just taking dusting the shelves. He's gutting the place.
The folks that wrote season one. GONE! Not just a couple but the whole damn crew. Outta there.
When season two gears up after the holidays it will be with a whole new fresh batch of creative folks. DARABONT has let it be known he looking for fresh ideas and he would like to bring on freelance folks to write individual episodes. I guess that one way to keep things cutting edge huh?
Of course season one is only six episodes long, really a glorified mini-series but season two will be double that. Theyve signed on for 13 episodes so that's going to change things I suppose.
Season one wraps up this Sunday night when the final hour airs at 10 PM but prior to that AMC will feature a marathon of all the previous installments so if you've not been watching this would be a great time to catch them all at the same time.
Also this week ANCHOR BAY/STARZ announced that they will be handling the Blu-ray/DVD release early 2011 so we'll have that to look forward too.
