The long talked about sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 revolutionary BLADE RUNNER is officially happening. The director recently confirmed new details on the project. It has been revealed that the movie will be set a few years after the first one concluded and it is also exciting to note that original co-writer Hampton Fancher is involved.

Director Ridley Scott

Producers Andrew Kosovoe and Broderick Johnson recently revealed that "It is a perfect opportunity to reunite Ridley with Hampton on this new project - one in fact inspired by their own personal collaboration [and] a classic of cinema if there ever was one."

If your head isn't ready to explode yet, get this, Scott is wanting original lead actor Harrison Ford to appear in the film. Said Scott recently: "I don't think it'll be Harrison [starring]. But I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing."

In my opinion, it would be a wonderful and a somewhat touching tribute to the original film.
