"Imprint" Trailer Makes an Impression

May 15, 2006,

Most of you know that Takashi Miike made a Masters of Horror episode named "Imprint," and you probably know that it was deemed too controversial to air by Showtime, and you also know that a lot of horror fans were upset over that decision, since the entire point of putting the episodes out on pay cable was to avoid restrictions.  If you didn't know any of that, well, hey, what a nice little summary you just got.

A trailer for that very episode was just located thanks to the Horror Channel.  I'm not sure why these things have to be "located."  Seems to me that something like this should be available and announced on the Masters of Horror website, not linked from a subsite to a fansite.

Regardless, scope the trailer out.  It's a period piece that's full of the usual suspects for Miike: the deformed, the tortured, and the torturous.  Most interestingly, it's a very sunny trailer.  Not sure if that makes it creepier or not, but I can't freaking wait for this thing.  The cycle will finally be complete.  Or something . . .
