A new version of THE LODGER, based loosely on the novel of the same title by Marie Belloc Lowndes, which in turn was based on the worlds most famous serial killer Jack the Ripper, is due to hit the silver screen next year. More films have been made about this still-elusive killer than any other known killer in modern history (including a silent version by Alfred Hitckcock), the first of which was made 90 years ago. While the hysteria surrounding the brutal killings of prostitutes that plagued the Whitechapel section of London, England during 1888 was attributed to a doctor, the new version of the story is being directed by David Ondaatje and will take place in Los Angeles. According to Cinematical, the cast includes Simon Baker (LAND OF THE DEAD) Alfred Molina (Satipo in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK) and Hope Davis (FLATLINERS).
