The first look at the remake of Day of the Dead is available over at the films official website. I’m really on the fence about this. My first impression when I clicked on over to the site is that I don’t like the way they have ripped off Romero’s Land of the Dead artwork with their advance art. I mean, c’mon, it’s like the exact same artwork that is one the LOTD DVD cover. After clicking on the trailer link I feel a little better though.
Although not earth shattering the trailer really isn’t that bad. The effects look good and the action looks plentiful. Looks like we are once again going to have to listen to everyone bitch about fast zombies as these ones appear to be on crack, flying around with almost super human speed. Lots of people jumping out of windows too. Zombies jumping out of windows, people getting thrown out of windows, people leaping out of windows. Lots of broken glass.
It appears as if Romero’s in depth study of human reaction while trapped in an underground bunker is gone. No mention of Bub either. Looks like more of a straight on action film with horror elements. Not that there is anything is wrong with that but I can hear the Romero purists battle cry echoing in my head already.
