The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the German fan favorite NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS is going to get the remake treatment from those fine folks at Warner Independent Pictures. Here are some snipits from the article:
Warner Independent Pictures will remake the German comedy "Night of the Living Dorks," and has set Chris Bishop to write the script. Vertigo's Roy Lee and Doug Davison are producing along with Adam F. Goldberg.
Described as "Revenge of the Nerds" meets "Shaun of the Dead," the story revolves around three not-so-cool school friends who decide to try an old voodoo ritual. When they later die in a car crash, they find themselves reborn as zombies, and try to take advantage of their new lifestyle.
The project fits snugly in the brand of geek comedies that Goldberg, whose writing credits include "Fanboys" and the "Revenge of the Nerds" remake, has been developing. Goldberg met Bishop while working on "Still Standing," and took him under his wing, shepherding his move to the film world.
Apparently I am one of the few but I didnt care much for the original so Im actually kind of glad to hear about this remake. Its a ways off but well keep an eye on its movement.
And remember for those of you whom have yet to check this one out, it is available now on DVD from those wonderful folks at Anchor Bay. Go jump in your car and pick it up now.
