FROZEN One Sheet Is A Winner

In his follow up to his successful slasher film HATCHET director Adam Green has come up with a truly original idea that I for one can't wait to see.

The film is called FROZEN and here is the awesome one sheet:

Yeah baby, I'm liking it.  After taking a look at that I'm sure you want to know just exactly what this project is all about.  The official synopsis tells all:

A typical day on the slopes turns into a chilling nightmare for three snowboarders when they get stranded on the chairlift before their last run. As the ski patrol switches off the night lights, they realize with growing panic that they've been left behind dangling high off the ground with no way down.

With the resort closed until the following weekend and frostbite and hypothermia already setting in, the trio is forced to take desperate measures to escape off the mountain before they freeze to death. Once they make their move, they discover with horror that they have much more to fear than just the frigid cold. As they combat unexpected obstacles, they start to question if their will to survive is strong enough to overcome the worst ways to die?

FROZEN recently screened in Austin at Harry Knowles BNAT where it apparently kicked major ass.  It is slated to play SUNDANCE right after the first of the year and then hit theaters on Feb. 5th.

Today's email brought the word from SONY about the DVD release of the remake of THE STEPFATHER.

Here's the word on special features and such:

The flick will be release on standard and Blu Ray on Feb. 9th.

Just as the original the film tells the tale of a man who marries into a family and then becomes a whack  job and starts killing everyone off.  This version stars Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, Penn Badley and Amber Heard.

Special features to include:

• Gag Reel
• Commentary with Director Nelson McCormick, Penn Badgley and Dylan Walsh
• Featurette: "Open House: Making the Film"
• Featurette: "Visualizing the Stunts"
• (For Blu-Ray) movieIQ: BD-Live Connects you to movieIQ: Access real time information on the cast, trivia and more while watching the movie.

Sony didn't send along the cover art yet but I think it will probably look something like the pic at the top right.

Alright, so those of you who braved the theater and went and checked out HALLOWEEN II already know how ZOMBIE ended it for the theatrical run.  Guess, what, there was an alternate ending shot and it has been made available as a part of the promotion for the DVD release on Jan. 12th.

Give it a look and lets talk about it after:

I have to say, I like the theatrical ending quite a bit more.  What are your thoughts?  Post some comments on my YOU TUBE page.  I do like the kind of music box rendition of LOVE HURTS.  Slightly creepy

DEAR MR. GACY gets a trailer

Not quite sure why this trailer bugs me so much but it does.  Probably because it's based on that actual scum bag JOHN WAYNE GACY who managed to kill a slew of young boys a while back.  I'm sure you remember him.

There have been a few GACY films that depicted the life and times of this killing clown but DEAR MR. GACY kind of takes a different swing.  Here what I know about the project and the trailer is at the bottom.

DEAR MR. GACY tells the true story of Jason Moss who back in 1994 started writing to GACY in prison.  '94 was the last year of GACY'S life.  Moss wrote a book about his time with GACY titled THE LAST VICTIM from which the film is based.

Here's the synopsis:

A true story from the producer of Monster, this drama is based on the experiences of 18-year-old college student Jason Moss and his relationship with notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Living at home with his parents in suburbia, attending college and dating his girlfriend, Jason lives a seemingly normal life. An overachiever, he’s always looking for a challenge and some new way to excel. As part of a school assignment, he sends a carefully crafted letter to John Gacy in prison, portraying himself as a vulnerable kid. Gacy, suspicious at first, puts Moss through harrowing emotional tests via phone and letters, before surrendering his trust to him. What follows is a twisted physcological game of cat and mouse between two master manipulators, in which Jason’s life is turned upside down and Gacy discovers new dimensions within himself. When Gacy invites Jason to visit him in prison for a private meeting, Jason accepts. Nobody, certainly not Jason, could have predicted what would unfold inside the maximum security cell. Jason’s book is called “The Last Victim” for a reason.

As you may have guessed the film has a website, CLICK HERE and go check it out.

Details For DVD Release Of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

Just a few short months ago it was all the rage of the HALLOWEEN season and in my opinion PARAMOUNT is doing the right thing by bringing this hit out on DVD really quickly.

Dec. 29th will be the day and it will be coming at you in a couple of different editions, a standard edition and then of course the LIMITED COLLECTOR'S EDITION.

That was the box art that kicked this article off and here is what you can expect on the disc itself:

- The theatrical version and an unrated version with an alternate ending never shown in theaters
- An authentic film cell from the movie, featured on a collectible trading card
- Individually numbered, limited edition t-shirt to showcase that YOU "demanded it!"

I am assuming that the special features are on the LIMITED EDITION release.

In case you've been living in a cave the last 90 days or so here is what PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is all about:

This intense edge-of-your seat horror film follows a young suburban couple who record the sinister disturbances in their home while they sleep– even as the domestic haunting becomes more frequent, more threatening and all too personal. Hypnotic and harrowing, Paranormal Activity uniquely delivers frightful suspense punctuated by moments of sudden and unexpected terror, all the way to the shocking ending.

Featuring a version not shown in theaters with an exclusive alternate ending, Paranormal Activity is the one supernatural thriller Blu-ray to own that plays on your most primal fears, and guarantees you’ll need to sleep with the lights on.
