As we creep ever closer to its release date of Feb. 26th little bits of information will begin to surface for the remake of THE CRAZIES.
Having said that tonight I have for you this brand new still:
That's a picture of Radha Mitchell and things don't seem to be going to well for her.
Here's a breakdown of the plot line for you:
Imagine living in
a small town where everything is safe and happy…until suddenly it
isn’t. Imagine your friends and neighbors going quickly and horrifically
insane. In a terrifying tale of the “American Dream” gone horribly
wrong, four friends find themselves trapped in their hometown in The Crazies, a
reinvention of the George Romero classic directed by Breck Eisner from a
screenplay by Ray Wright (Pulse, Case 39) and Scott Kosar (The Amityville
Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
David Dutten
(Timothy Olyphant) is sheriff of
Ogden
Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But
one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun,
ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house…after locking his
wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed
into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives
have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with
guns and knives. Sheriff Dutten tries to make sense of what’s happening
as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the
citizens of
Ogden
Marsh…with insanity.
Now complete
anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn
sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government
uses deadly force to close off all access and won’t let anyone in or out
– even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped:
Sheriff Dutten; his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle
Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson),
Dutten’s deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary
night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get
out of town alive.
This one just looks damn good to me. I'm looking forward to it.

AM
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN was arguably one of the best films in recent memory and you know what that mean. Yep, remake time.
OVERTURE FILMS announced over their website that production has begun on LET ME IN the American remake of the popular foriegn film.
Here's the complete press release that explains it all:
Principal photography began today on Let Me In, writer/director Matt Reeves' adaptation of Let the Right One In,
in Albuquerque, New Mexico.Reeves (Cloverfield) and young stars Kodi
Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Chloe
Moretz ((500) Days of Summer) were
among those on-set as filming commenced on the Hammer Films production at
Albuquerque Studios.Filming will also
take place in various other locations in New Mexico before returning to
Albuquerque to wrap in January.
In the haunting and provocative Let Me In, an alienated 12-year-old boy
(Smit-McPhee) befriends a mysterious young newcomer (Moretz) in his small New
Mexico town and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood. The film is based on the bestselling vampire
novel, Latden Ratte Komma In, by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, and is
an English--anguage remake of the highly acclaimed Swedish film of the same
name.
The filmmakers note that while the new film will
pay respect to the original Swedish version, they intend to forge a unique
identity for Let Me In, placing it
firmly in an American context.
This project is very personal to Matt as it is
to the many passionate fans of the original story, said Simon Oakes, President
and CEO of Hammer Films. The brilliance
of that story deserves to be seen by audiences on a wide scale and we are
excited that the pieces are in place to make that a reality.
Updates to the cast list include Elias Koteas (Shutter Island) as the policeman, Cara Buono
(The Sopranos) as Owen’s mother and Sasha Barrese (The Hangover) as Virginia. It was previously announced that
Smit-McPhee and Moretz would play the leads Owen and Abby respectively and Oscar-nominee
Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) would
play the guardian of Abby.
Hammer Films acquired the remake rights to Let the Right OneIn at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival where the film took home the
Founders Award®for Best Narrative Feature. The production is scheduled for a 2010 release in the U.S. by Overture
Films. Exclusive Film Distribution is handling worldwide sales and
distribution of the film.
Producing the film are Hammer's Oakes, Guy East
and Nigel Sinclair, along with Oscar-winner Donna Gigliotti (Shakespeare in Love). Hammer's Alex Brunner and Tobin Armbrust will
executive produce along with John Ptak, Philip Elway and Fredrik Malmberg.
Overture's Robert Kessel, EVP Production & Acquisitions, will oversee
production for the studio. Swedish producers John Nordling and Carl Molinder,
who produced the original film, are also involved as producers on this remake.
Please note the teaser artwork in the top right hand of this article. I'll keep you updated as this one moves ahead.

JOHN CARPENTER'S OFFICIAL SITE

Here's something a little cool.
Over at JOHN CARPENTER'S official website a video diary has been posted. It appears to be the first in what I'm hoping will be an often updated series of looks behind the scenes at the making of THE WARD which is of course CARPENTER'S current project.
As I've reported previously the film stars Amber Heard, Danielle
Panabaker, Mamie Gummer, Jared Harris, Mika Boorem, Lyndsy Fonseca,
Laura-Leigh, Sydney Sweeney, Dan Anderson, Susanna Burney and Sali Sayle and is basically a ghost tale that tells the story of HEARD'S character that finds herself in a mental ward where a girl haunts the hallways.
You get a much better feel for the film in the video so go check it out now.

It has been less then 8 weeks since JENNIFER'S BODY was out in theaters. To say it didn't do that well is a bit of an understatement.
Just goes to show you that a hot chick alone will not put the asses in the seats.
No question that MEGAN FOX is one hot number but as always if the story sucks, no one will care. Maybe home video will be a little kinder to JB. We're going to find out soon enough as word on the DVD release has surfaced.
According to VIDEO ETA JENNIFER'S BODY is exposing itself on Dec. 29th. According to them the Blu-ray will hit on the same day. No mention of special features but I am sure that the official announcement from FOX will lay that all out.
They did have a small pic of the supposed cover art which is what that pic there on the top right is all about.
All that is known for now but check back as I suspect the official announcement from the studio is but a day or so away.
