When it comes to casting, inventive director Robert Rodriguez never disappoints. Watching a Rodriguez movie is sometimes like playing a game of Mystery Date, you just never know who is going to show up.

Mel Gibson? Is that you?

For the upcoming MACHETE KILLS, the sequel to 2010's enjoyable MACHETE, Mel Gibson is reportedly in negotiations to play an undisclosed character. It has also been reported though that the following plot synopsis may have some answers:

"Machete is drafted by the U.S. government to track an arms dealer through Mexico before he can launch a rocket."

Public scandals be damned, Rodriguez seems to love to provide a safe haven for those weathering the storms of controversy (remember Lindsay Lohan's cameo in MACHETE?). The result of this provides a few entertaining  "Hey, isn't that (insert name here)?" moments.

In addition to filming MACHETE KILLS in the spring, Rodriguez will also film a sequel to SIN CITY in the summer. He recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he may not be able to film all of MACHETE KILLS himself due to the tight scheduling and that a co-director may be necessary.
