From this weeks "why mess with it if it's already awesome" file comes some updated news on the FRIGHT NIGHT remake.
News on this one has been all over the place with nothing, until now, being confirmed. Apparently the new take will be set in Vegas and the Peter Vincent role won't be a local horror host but instead a "Criss Angel" like performer.
Ah crap, here we go.
So apparently gone is the small town boy next door motif and instead we will have a yuppie Charlie Brewster going up against a Vegas show stopper.
So, what we know for sure is that filming is slated to kick off in July. We know that writer Marti Noxon is handling the scripting duties and has revealed the following.
The film stars Anton Yelchin (in the Charley Brewster role), Colin Farrell (as
Jerry Dandrige) and Toni Collette. Noxon describes her take on Dandrige
as, "much more 'Jaws'-like vampire in the Amblin tradition."
You know, why would they even call this FRIGHT NIGHT , why not just write an original story, c'mon VEGAS and Dandrige is a Criss Angel type. I just don't get it.
