It's
Alive, Larry Cohen's 1974 cult thriller starring John P. Ryan,
Sharron Farrell, James Dixon and Guy Stockwell, is celebrating it's 40th
anniversary with a screening at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles. The film will be screening on Thursday,
October 16th, 2014 at 10:00 pm. Director
Cohen and actress Farrell are scheduled to appear in person to discuss the
film. From the press release:
Our
modern world is full of marvels - but also polluted air, foods sprayed with
deadly chemicals, misused drugs and hidden radioactive substances. Ever wonder
how these poisons might affect a developing child in the womb? This cult
thriller offers a shocking possibility - and in so doing has become a creepy
cult classic! It's Alive is the first film of the now-legendary
terror trilogy from writer/director Larry Cohen (Q: The Winged Serpent,
God Told Me To) about murderous mutants - and its birth was chillingly
midwived by the crucial contributions of two Academy Award winners: makeup
master Rick Baker (An American Werewolf in London), who created the makeup
and "played" the infant monster, and composer Bernard
Herrmann (Psycho).
The Nuart Theatre is located
at 11272 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90067. It can be reached at (310) 473 - 8530
