When I attended the recent Genghis Con Film Festival & Convention in Pittsburgh earlier this month, I got to meet and chat quite a bit with Gigi Fast-Elk Bannister. Widely known as the wife of Phantasm's own Reggie Bannister. Well Mrs. Bannister is out to make a name for herself as well in the Horror genre, namely for her Special Makeup F/X. She told me about a Short Film she did called, Zombie Hunter, and promised me a copy of it once I returned to Tampa. Well I'm back and low and behold, I have a DVD in the mail. The Producer of the piece, Chris Staviski, sent me the film and I have to make sure to thank him for it. I was quite pleased with what I saw. From my understanding this film is the Short version of a Feature Film script that they are hoping gets the Green Light. Well based on what I saw in the Short, let's hope it gets made.
The story is of a Gardner turned Zombie Exterminator. He comes across a lone survivor somewhere in a deserted, demolished town in the desert. Hes there to hang his flyers for any potential customers who may come shambling by. After dispatching some offending ghouls he and the Survivor make there way off into the sunset. The piece is short but very stylishly done with great spaghetti western music to accompany it. Well shot and Directed it is something any Zombie fan would love to take a look at.
