I s
pent the last few days sifting through the Halloween:  25 Years of Terror DVD and I have only one thing to say:  AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME.

This is the definitive must have documentary on the Halloween film franchise.  I am really kind of blown away by how complete this 2 disc set is.  Disc one contains the actual documentary and a butt load of extras that I will post at the end of this review.  Of particular interest though is the show Horror’s Hallowed Grounds which was supposed to be a part of The Horror Channels programming but now the folks behind the show have left the channel so hopefully they will find another market for it because if this episode of the show is an example of what they can do then we need to see this show weekly at the least.  It is a great trip through the locations used in the film.  I really enjoyed that particular segment.  THC has got to be kicking themselves in the ass for letting this one slip away because it’s good, real good.

The documentary itself is well done and informative.  Hosted by the original films PJ Soles we are led through the history of the film all the while being witness to rare or never before seen stills and video clips.  Again, a must see for any fan of the franchise.  Disc One also contains a treasure trove of stuff shot at the H25 convention showing fans doing what fans do, paying homage to the film that they love.  It is entertaining and priceless.

The second disc is made up of almost entirely panel discussions that were held at the H25 con.  Of particular interest to me was the Michael Myers group which consisted of all the men who have played Michael over the years including my personal favorite Dick Warlock who will always be Michael Myers in my little part of the world.

I will list all the other panels at the bottom of this review.

So, let’s cut to the chase, is this disc worth picking up.  Oh, hell yeah.  I would run to the store and search this one out.  It is truly a time capsule of information on a film that changed a lot of our lives.  There is practically no way to measure Halloweens impact on the genre.  History will prove that it was a turning point in horror history and this disc will always be used to help document that fact.

Halloween:  25 Years of Terror is a must have.
