Told you last week about UNIVERSAL prepping another chapter in their MUMMY franchise.  Tonight brings news of some more casting and the like.

Jet Li has signed on for the fun this time and will be joining the gang from the first two films as this time we head to the Orient for some Mummy fun.  

Rob Cohen will be helming the project this time around and that should make this one a film we’ll want to keep a close eye on.  The film is currently slated for a Summer 2008 release and is reported to focus on Alex O’Connell the now grown son of the first two films hero couple.  Brendan Fraser has signed to return but no confirmation on Rachel Weitz coming along for the ride this time.  

The addition of Jet Li to this project is a much needed shot in the arm and should hopefully lead to great things for the franchise.  We’ll keep an eye on let you know of any progress.
