Robert Kurtzman and his partner John Bisson are a couple of sick bastards.

If that statement alone isn't enough to drive you into the seats for THE RAGE how about the fact that THE RAGE features some of the sickest most disturbing imagery I have witnessed in years and it is done with the wink and nod style of writing that the genre has been sorely missing for a while.

Horror is fun again and we can thank Robert Kurtzman and John Bisson

Robert and John have worked together since back in the early KNB days and this project was certainly a collaborative effort with John writing the story and co-writing the script, working on creature concepts, production designs and so forth. Robert of course directs and together they have crafted an old school shocker that should have gore hounds dancing in the aisles.

THE RAGE is a non stop gore fest, a throwback to films of my youth. Watching it I was taken back to when I first watched Re-Animator or Phantasm even The Evil Dead. Kurtzman has crafted a tight blood soaked thriller that is just cram packed full of those wince and smile moments that us 40 + year olds lament about oh so very often. Todays generation of horror fan have yet to really experience a film of this type and who better to revive it than Robert Kurtzman.

Teaming up once again with Andrew Divoff whom he directed in WISHMASTER a few years back Kurtzman tells the tale of a scientist who has crafted a designer virus that he is preparing to unleash upon an unsuspecting population. Through a series of unsuspected incidents (every horror film has those) the virus gets loose a little early and ends up infecting some birds and then all hell breaks loose.

The opening sequence is a bloody, action filled tour de force of gore that merely sets the stage for the bloodshed yet to come. Along for the ride with Divoff is Erin Brown who most all will remember by her “other” name Misty Mundae. I have always found Erin to portray her characters in the old school “scream queen” style, campy, sexy and fun and she is a joy to watch.

Also of note is a great special appearance by the one and only Reggie Bannister whose role is small but very memorable.

Kurtzman's contribution to the genre is that of legend and his work is without doubt some of the best in the business. It is a joy to witness his work behind the camera again as it has been far to long since he has brought his style of no holds barred horror and gore to the fans.

Kurtzman is hard core and so is THE RAGE.

Pop some popcorn, grab a tarp and enjoy.

Keep it here for the latest info on when and where you'll be able to see THE RAGE.
