If you're a fan of Dario Argento, you'll know what the headline is referring to. If not - Dario has , through his career, worked on something he calls the Three Mothers Trilogy. It started with Suspiria, and continued with Inferno. The awesome news is things are back on track, with a movie called Mater Lachrymarum (The Mother of Tears) - the "third mother". When Mr. Argento spoke with his two freshly picked screenwriters, Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson - he told them he wanted this to be "the cruelest movie he's ever made". Bring it on! Here's some of the article from About.com - including some of the interview Staci did with the screenwriters.
Do the math: writer/director Dario Argento’s Three Mothers Trilogy is missing a mama. It started way back in 1977 with Suspiria, then Inferno followed in 1980. She might be a grandma by now, but the third and final installment is finally underway with a film project tentatively titled Mater Lachrymarum (The Mother of Tears).
A couple of Tobe Hooper’s favorite screenwriters, Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson, met Argento for the first time just a few months back when he was in Los Angeles editing his Masters of Horror episode, Jenifer. One thing quickly led to another, and the talented duo snagged the plum assignment of writing a screenplay based on a story that’s been percolating in Argento’s brain for some time now.
Here's some of what Gierasch and Anderson had to say regarding the film in a recent interview...
Gierasch: To say this movie is gory is an understatement.
Anderson: He told us in the beginning that he wanted it to be the cruelest movie he's ever made. And we were like, "OK! That's a tall order."
Gierasch: We've been directed not to say much about the plot, but we can that it's very bloody, very twisted, with some heavy duty elements of surrealism. It's pretty fast paced. And the other thing I will say is that it's really nothing like Suspiria or Inferno.
You can be sure that HoH will watch for more on this as it develops.
