For genre fans in the NYC area, here's another great con coming to town this weekend (March 31-April 2). The lineup is pretty cool especially with the King of the Zombies, George Romero being in attendence along with a Dawn of the Dead reunion. Hopefully we will be providing some coverage of this great weekend.

Legendary horror film director/producer George A. Romero will be hosting a rare live Q&A session and signing autographs at the upcoming Big Apple Comic Book, Toy, Horror & Sci-Fi Expo. “We are really excited to have such an important figure in Horror films at the show,” says Michael Carbonaro the promoter of Big Apple Conventions. America’s foremost master of horror, Mr. Romero returns to his birthplace, NYC, for this 3 day event. One lucky contestant in the traditional Big Apple costume contest will even win dinner with the noted director. Mr. Romero is famous for his work on the “LIVING DEAD” series of movies beginning with “Night of the Living Dead” (1968) and continuing for 20 years with his famous series up to his latest creation “Land of the Dead” (2005).
The Big Apple Convention is New York’s longest running comic book, toy, horror and sci-fi event. Thousands of fans are expected to turn out to meet the celebrities and special guests, shop the dealer room and enjoy the festivities. Sony/Tri-Star Pictures, Monsters HD, Troma Entertainment and The Learning Annex are among the many well established companies that will be there.

For Comic Book Fans, critically acclaimed creator Frank Miller (Sin City, Batman, Robocop) will be interviewing famed artist Neal Adams (Batman, X-Men). Gene Ha (Superman, X-Men, Batman, Green Lantern) will be making his first New York Convention appearance. Gahan Wilson (National Lampoon, the New Yorker, Playboy, Nuts!) will be making his first New York Convention appearance in decades. Also appearing will be cutting edge comic creators Phil Jimenez, Bill Tucci, Mark Texiera, Kyle Baker, Cliff Chiang, Toby Cypress, Rich Buckler, Tommy Castillo, and dozens more.
Numerous panels, screenings and events will be taking place throughout the weekend: Troma Entertainment will host “How to Make an Independent Film”, Sony/Tri-Star pictures will screen the trailer for its video game inspired film “Silent Hill” starring Radha Mitchell, Laurie Holden, Sean Bean and Debra Kara Unger.
Additional events will include the Saturday costume contest with great prizes and surprises. Promotional posters, t-Shirts, comic books and memorabilia will be given away throughout the weekend.
