I came across some news regarding the release of Hallowed - a modern day slasher flick, shot in the style of the serial killer movies of the late 70's and early 80's. The film's director, Rocky Costanzo pays homage to John Carpenter and his classic masterpiece film "Halloween" throughout the film - with subtle dialog & theme montages. It won best screenplay/story concept at the recent Hollywood DV/HD Festival out of LA, and nobody here's afraid of a little low budget axe-murdering - so I thought I'd let you know about its release, and give you the link to the offical site and trailer (at the bottom of the article).
Here's the synopsis from the official website, and the press release in its entirety.
"Hallowed" is the story about a mentally disturbed man who believes he has been sent from God to take the lives of innocent people. The film is dark in nature because of its spritual undertones, however it is not blasphemous in any way, nor does it single out any religion. It was merely done that way to invent a unique killer. Unlike your typical man-in-a-mask psycho, Gabriel's appearance is that of a clean cut, door-to-door religious man, dressed in a white-collared shirt, black tie and dark slacks... not your average killer.
But Gabriel is intelligent and very dangerous and he attacks his victims at key moments. Cassie, who is vulnerable to the killer - Gabriel arrives at her doorstep to read her a bible passage and quickly begins to stalk her. Cassie's boyfriend, Shaun, is a college student and top athlete. He doesn't like Gabriel and is destined to keep him away from his girlfriend. But the tables are quickly turned on Shaun when Gabriel shifts his attention from Cassie to him.

Hallowed is the second feature film produced by LifeLine Entertainment, following the success of its 2001 release of "Return to Innocence," which has sold an unbelievable 36,000 DVD units to date. "RTI really put us on the map" explains Costanzo. "Without the success of that film, we would not be fortunate enough to have made Hallowed."
The filmmaking team of LifeLine Entertainment is very busy these days, currently working on several new film projects, including a music documentary, another horror film and a coming-of age drama... all expected to surface in the next few years.
