I spoke with Coralina Cataldi Tassoni in September as she just arrived in Rome, Italy to begin work on Dario Argento’s MOTHER OF TEARS, his long-awaited follow-up to SUSPIRIA (1977) and INFERNO (1980).  Tassoni appeared in Argento’s OPERA (1987)  and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1998) and Lamberto Bava’s DEMONS 2: THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES (1988).  According to Fangoria, the film is due to begin filming at the end of October.  It will reunite Argento with Daria Nicolodi, who last worked with him on OPERA (1987).  Prior to OPERA, Nicolodi appeared in PROFONDO ROSSO (as Gianna Brezzi), SUSPIRIA (briefly in the film’s opening airport scene), INFERNO (as Elise Stallone Van Adler), TENEBRE (as Anne), and PHENOMENA (as Frau Brückner).

Asia Argento, Max Von Sydow and Udo Kier are also attached to the project.  All three have worked with Argento before and this will certainly seem like a reunion of sorts.
