"The Mist" is probably Stephen King's best short story. It's about a mist that covers up the New England coast, and how people seek refuge in a supermarket. Being the writer he is, King also makes sure that there's something monstrous in the Mist.
Frank Darabont's had his eye on the story for some time now, and, according to MTV, Thomas Jane is in talks to play David Drayton, the hero of the story. As he says it (simply), "Frank Darabont and I are supposed to be doing Stephen King's 'The Mist.'"
This project has been on Darabont's plate for a long time, but he dropped it for a while so he could focus on re-adapting Fahrenheit 451. While that film will no doubt be spectacular, I (and other Misties) have been waiting for Darabont's version for a long, long time. Thomas Jane getting onboard is good news, but I'll wait until a release date before I start jumping for joy.
