The Toxic Avenger (1984) Review:
This cult movie from the Troma production is well-known for being one of the worst and yet funnier piece of B-movie cinema. The Toxic Avenger is pretty much the definition of a “so bad that it is so good” movie: it is extremely silly, it is awfully bad on purpose, and it pushes the limit of trash cinema pretty far.
The movie reeks of extremely low budget production and is among the cheesiest movies you’ll ever see, utterly stupid from start to end. But that’s not even the best part of it, the most enjoyable is how atrocious the « bad guys » are. They drives over kids, crash their skulls, beat the shit out of grannies just for fun, as if it was a completely normal thing to do back in the days.
The toxic avenger monster, whose on-screen apparitions are always preceded by an hilarious epic music, is a lot of fun to watch. Pretty much as bad a monster as you can make it, with a dubbing so awkward that it looks like a video game.
I am not a huge fan of this kind of trash silly production, but The Toxic Avenger that is tons of fun to watch. The movie is not too long either, something that helps keeping it entertaining at all time. Most importantly, it is a must-see classic for anyone into B-movies and/or absurd comedies.
