The Ring (2002) Review:

American remake of Japenese horror movies are pretty common and almost invariably less good than the original. In my opinion however, this one of the rare exception. At least, this remake has one thing in common with the original…it is really scary! As the for the rest and despite a similar background story, I found this remake quite different, especially in terms of pace.

If you tend to dislike slow Asian horror, this remake is the perfect alternative. Thereee is a good ratio between jumpy moments and atmospheric creepy scenes. The special effects are convincing and the girl’s make up is really convincing. The actors are all doing a very good job; this especially true for the son of the journalist (David Dorfman). The story is deep and complex, with many surprising twists… everything for a good horror movie is in there! If you haven’t seen it yet, or just saw the original Japanese version, I would still recommend to watch this one, a great remake!
