The Last Exorcism Part II (2013) Review:

This film is a follow up to the successful “The Last Exorcism”. Many audiences will be expecting something similar to the first but will be dissatisfied, mainly because it is very boring in most parts. When the real horror eventually kicks in, it does not deliver it’s a true effect, massively damaging the rest of the film.

Overall, this movie was in no way as good as the first one. Even though the mockumentary style of the first one wasn’t great, it provided quite some scares to the viewer. The second film provides instead the overused cliché scares that will make viewers jump out of their seat, but nothing better than that. You also get sick of seeing the same scares throughout the movie, and the few cool effects only lasted shortly.

The story doesn’t help anything about the film for it raises more questions than it answers. I enjoyed the ending but the rest of the movie was just like any other cliché horror with no motivation to go for real imaginative scares. It wasn’t in any way as ambitious as the first film! Thereee are very few likable characters: Nell plays the innocent damsel in distress and the rest are all trying to help, but can’t do much. I was highly disappointed in general, it’s like there was nothing original in this film where there could have been some much improvements made from the first one. This not a good horror at all, so please save yourself some money and time, and do not view this unless you really love exorcism films or are very interested in paranormal. I give it 3/10.
