The Horde (2009) Review:

To me, The Horde is simply the most underrated zombie movies ever made – and one of my very favorite of the genre.

Besides the splendid action scenes and a really dark atmosphere, the greatest thing about The Horde is probably its characters. The movie is set in the deprived suburbs of France, and all of the characters are either a real bad-ass gangster or crazy neighbors. They all have very unique personalities and only have in common to be completely nuts…but they also appear surprisingly humans at times, something that contrasts nicely with the otherwise hard tone of the film. I enjoyed how the film is built on a gang rivalry that will later have to forget their quarrel and unite as survival instinct taking over. All this makes La Horde (French title) really different from the usual survival zombie-movies!!!

Thereee is also a great lot of action, with some really impressive fights and lots of epic scenes (e.g. the parking scene is one of my favorite zombie scenes ever – watch it here!). The graphics are really polished and the storyline basic but efficient, and because this anyway not what we expected from this type of movie, I think it easily deserves to be rated above 9 / 10.
