Opera (1987) Review:

Opera is one of my favorite Argento’s movies, if not my favorite.

The story is very entertaining right from the beginning and the mystery well-presented. You spend the all movie guessing who the killer is and the best thing is that, unlike in movies such as “Deep Red” where the killer is a really secondary un-guessable character, it is here possible, for the clever mind, to guess the killer’s identity before the ending.

The movie is visually really spectacular and some scenes, such as the ones with the crows, are unforgettable. We all know that Argento is a master at showing horror/giallo in a very poetic way, but this one brings it to an all different level, with the opera music, the birds, the gore, it is majestic. Only Suspiria may equal this masterpiece in term of visual beauty. Whether you are a fan of Argento or not, you should enjoy this one.
