High Tension (2003) Review:
High Tension is one of these great films from the highly disturbing modern French cinema. It is basically a slasher, the two girls being chased by an unknown murderer who kills everyone on his way, but also more than that for it has a huge part of psychological horror.
The movie has great action scenes. The hide and seek game taking place between the killer and the girl is a really stressful one and should glue you onto your sofa. The casting is great. I really liked Cecile de France as the main actress, she plays really well the tomboy aspect of her character, while remaining sexy and strong-minded at the same time. Maiwenn is also a very good rising French actress.
The best in this movie is definitely the stunning ending. It caught me totally off guard and left me here on my sofa to think for a while after the film finished. For me the best film from Alexandre Aja (Hills Have Eyes, Maniac, Piranha 3D).
