It has been bantered around the net for a while now but today the folks over at Platinum Dune made it official by announcing that the sequel to the remake will be release on Aug. 13th, 2010 which is the date that they were hoping to secure.

Producer Brad Fuller wants to make it perfectly clear though that the film has not yet been given the greenlight so this is all still just a little "pie in the sky".

I have a feeling that green light is not far off though so keep it here and I'll let you know just as soon as it gear up for production.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will once again pen the storyline and despite all the rumors flying around the net right now Derek Mears WILL be reprising his role as JASON.
