Jan 17, 2006,

I received, Nail Gun Massacre for Christmas 2004 and I'd not seen the film for years before receiving it as a gift.....it was the 'Limited Edition' version of the DVD signed by director/writer, Terry Lofton, to some people that may be the only aspect of this disc that is worth anything...the autograph!

Nail Gun Massacre is typical of your 80s horror films, it has some blood, sex, some bare skin, a story based on revenge for some past bad deeds and an interesting concept for killing the victims....a nail gun. When a young Texas woman is raped, revenge is taken upon all the construction workers who took part in the attack. The killer drives a gold-colored hearse, dresses in camouflage, wears a motorcycle helmet and offers some of the corniest one-liners following the 'nailings' that you've ever heard. The killer doesn't limit himself/herself to only construction workers, it would seem anyone who is a friend of a construction worker or looking for construction work is a fair target.

Now, this film is bad, there's no way to even try and convince someone that what they're watching is a good film, but being a bad film doesn't necessarily make for a bad viewing experience and such is the case with, Nail Gun Massacre. In order to enjoy this film, all logic must be tossed out the window and any hope for a serious attempt at a horror film must be forgotten, but if you can get past these facts of the film, you may just enjoy the viewing experience. The acting in this film is absolutely the worst....dead bodies breathe, blink and make every attempt to fall, gently! It would seem wounds to the arm or hands can be deadly, too! The effects are poorly done, the nails appear to be rubber and you only see the nails after they have punctured the body! In spite of all the shortcomings, this film, when viewed in the right state of mind can actually be fun.....it probably gives hope to future filmmakers out there that they could only make much better films.

This is a nicely packaged DVD, the picture doesn't look bad for a film that may have had a budget of under $1000, the audio is quite weak, but it does offer a nice featurette that has director/writer Terry Lofton discussing this film and he appears to be very comfortable with the film he offered horror fans and is quite interesting to listen to, as well. The film was initially released as a limited edition to only 500 copies, autographed by director/writer Terry Lofton, but it has been re-released minus the autograph and is easier to get your hands on, now. While this film may be too absurd and unintentionally hilarious for some viewers, this is definitely worth checking out and in spite of all the goofs, it seems this film has reached cult status for those very same goofs!
