LOS ANGELES, CA March 8, 2006 --- Beginning 12:01 am, tomorrow,
Fox Searchlight Pictures will participate in an unprecedented promotion taking over all advertising on MySpace.com, for the new movie, THE HILLS HAVE EYES. MySpace.com, the leading social networking and lifestyle portal, is the most widely viewed and highly regarded site of its kind boasting more than 23.1 billion page views and 35.5 million unique users in January alone.* The purchase allows the film unparalleled advertising exposure and helps connect site users to the remake of a horror classic.
“‘Taking over’ MySpace, the second largest site on the internet, as the exclusive advertiser the day before our film opens is an incredible opportunity and exciting way to celebrate the release of THE HILLS HAVE EYES,” said Peter Rice, President of Fox Searchlight Pictures.
Based on the original film by fright master Wes Craven, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, directed by Alexandre Aja, is hoping to terrify another generation of film-goers with a revamped version of this chilling cult classic. During this one day advertising take-over, MySpace users have the chance to win a private screening of the thriller with 25 of their friends. By clicking through any ad on the site, users will be directed to the movie’s official profile,
www.myspace.com/thehillshaveeyesmovie, where they have the option to enter the contest.
"We've never done an advertising campaign of this magnitude" said Colin Digiaro, SVP Sales for MySpace.com. "We have some cutting edge advertising and marketing campaigns coming down the pipeline that will be immersive, engaging and probably surprising for our users."
During the one day promotion, MySpace users and fans of THE HILLS HAVE EYES will have the opportunity to view never before seen material from the movie prior to Friday’s theatrical release. In addition to checking out the film’s official MySpace profile, users can check out the movie soundtrack, view exclusive photos and clips as well as play a game and download wallpapers, buddy icons and a screen saver.
