A series of what are being called micro movies are slated to begin production in the coming new year.  This sounds kind of interesting, so check it out.

Ringleader Studios' Steve Harris and Karza Prods.' Jerry Macaluso are teaming to form indie production company Centuri Films, it was announced Wednesday at the American Film Market. The label will acquire, develop, finance and market new film properties as "micro movies" in the horror and sci-fi genres.

Jon Sheinberg, founder and CEO of Beverly Hills-based management and consulting agency the Machine, has been tapped by Centuri to serve as the company's producers rep.

"Centuri Films is truly an innovative company, one that will prove strong with its original content in multiple distribution platforms such as theatrical, DVD, PSP2, Vcast and the Internet, all the while targeting primarily a male demographic," Sheinberg said.

The company will specialize in films with budgets of less than $5 million. Harris and Macaluso currently are in postproduction on their first Centuri release, "Night Skies," which they are repping at AFM. The film, which stars Jason Connery and A.J. Cook, is based on true events related to one of the largest UFO sightings ever documented.

The label also is repping three additional films at the market that it will produce in the next year: "Razor," a supernatural slasher film; "Darkside of the Moon," a thriller about an FBI agent who is lured back to his hometown to confront a supernatural serial killer that might be a werewolf; and "H.P. Lovecraft's Return From Beyond," about a high-tech experiment that goes awry in an underground military base, unleashing the inhabitants of an otherworldly dimension.

Harris is the founder and publisher of Cinescape magazine. Macaluso, a marketing veteran who also is the president and founder of collectible action-figure maker Sota Toys, is planning marketing and licensing tie-ins to help support the distribution of Centuri's films, including a "Night Skies" book, toy line and one-hour documentary.
