Hadn't heard of this one till the press release arrived but it sounds like it's right up our alley.  Here is the complete press release and the cover art.

Allumination FilmWorks is thrilled to announce that it will be releasing writer/director Matt Flynn’s action-packed slasher spoof Hack! on DVD December 11, 2007 for a suggested retail price of $29.98.  Horror and hilarity combine to make Hack! a thoroughly entertaining adventure in this send-up of slasher-movie clichés.

Reality filmmaking takes a new turn when Vincent King (Sean Kanan, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Chasing Holden) and his wife Mary Shelley (Juliet Landau, Drusilla from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel,” Ed Wood), two rabid horror-movie fanatics, decide to make their own reality-based slasher film masterpiece.

These two filmmaking maniacs happen to own a small isolated island where, much to their delight, a group of college students, led by the deceptively innocent biology major Emily (Danica McKellar, “The Wonder Years,” “The West Wing”), have arrived  to study the local fauna in order to earn some extra credit.  While they try to make the most of their time on the island, little do they know that they’re about to end up on the cutting-room floor – literally – as the filmmakers take on-set editing to a gory new extreme!

A true homage to horror, Hack! is packed with references to both classic and contemporary shockers. It’s both a scary and very fun ride.

Steven West of HorrorReview.com calls the film, “Brisk and enjoyable… A good balance of splatter and laughs, plus an engagingly sexy McKellar topping a first-rate cast.”

Hack!’s killer cast also includes William Forsythe (Halloween, The Devil’s Rejects), the legendary Kane Hodder (Jason in Friday the 13th Parts 7-10, Hatchet), Jay Kenneth Johnson (“Days of Our Lives,” “North Shore,” “Scrubs”), Gabrielle Richens (TV’s “Dancing With the Stars,” “Celebrity Survivor”) and Academy Award nominee Burt Young (the Rocky franchise, Back to School, Amityville II: The Possession).
