LIONSGATE DVD Slate For September

Just got the word from LIONSGATE on what the month of Sept. will hold as far as DVD releases go.

Here they are:

September 11
Pirates of Ghost Island
After enjoying a graduation party amid a cruise, an unexpected storm strikes, stranding a group of young friends on an uninhabited island.  The island appears to be desolate, but when one of them is kidnapped before dawn, the terrified friends realize they are not alone.  Before they know it, they are thrown in a whirl-wind battle with the Pirates of Ghost Island, a terrorizing colony of blood thirsty swashbucklers who have haunted these beaches for over 200 years.

September 18
Alligator
It lives 50 feet beneath the city. It's 36 feet long. It weighs 2,000 pounds...and it's mad…! Alligator, the frightening movie with a sense of humor, finds the perfect blend of comedy and horror, making this an entertaining romp through the sewers of Chicago.  With newly re-mastered picture and audio, the DVD also features an on-camera interview with John Sayles and audio commentary with the cast and crew.
 
Twelve years ago two incidents occurred which bore no similarity until now.  After returning from their Florida vacation, the Kendal family decided their pet baby alligator was too much of a nuisance and flushed him down the toilet.  At the same time, Slade Laboratories was conducting secret hormonal experiments with animals and the carcasses were disposed of in the city sewer.  The baby alligator fed on the dead dogs… and after twelve years its body chemistry took on grotesque mutations.  When several brutal murders are discovered, David Madison (Robert Forster) is put on the case to find the so-called Jack-the-Ripper killer.  But this is no human psychopath – it is a ravaging animal-turned-monster bent on destroying everything in its wake.

Bug: Special Edition

Cujo: 25th Anniversary Edition
Terror will be unleashed again when the Cujo: 25th Anniversary Edition is released to DVD this September.  Based on the frightening best-selling book from the king of horror himself, Stephen King, Cujo follows the story of a mother and her young son who are being terrorized by a rabid dog. Nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Horror Film from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, this special anniversary DVD features all-new O-card collectible packaging and is packed with new bonus features including a three-part “Making Of” featurette, interviews with cast and crew and audio commentary from director Lewis Teague.

In rural Maine, Vic and Donna Trenton struggle to repair their crumbling marriage, while their young son Tad befriends a hulking, lovable, 200-pound St. Bernard named Cujo.  With Vic away on business, Donna and Tad take their decrepit car to be fixed at the remote farm of their mechanic.  As their aging Pinto sputters to a stop and dies, Cujo appears.  However, the once docile dog has contracted rabies, and has transformed into a hideous, slavering, demonic killer possessed by almost supernatural strength...and unholy cunning.

Curse of Alcatraz

The terrifying horror movie Curse of Alcatraz, the last motion picture to be filmed at the infamous prison, has been digitally re-mastered and is making its debut on DVD this September.  A curse born of torture and isolation comes to life and terrorizes a group of scientists who travel to Alcatraz to investigate a series of unsolved murders.  Prepare to experience the fear yourself, inside the prison’s haunted and deadly walls!  DVD special features include audio commentary with writer/director Daniel Zirilli, “Pitch Black: A Night on Alcatraz” featurette and “In First Person: Cast and Crew” featurette.

Night of the Demons 2

For years, Hull House has sat in eerie silence – tales of its haunted past have turned into gory jokes – and no one really believes anything ever happened there.  However, a special anniversary date is approaching…and unbeknownst to the local high school students, a horror-fest is in the works. While most of the student body at nearby St. Rita’s high school is excited about the “official” Halloween dance, Shirley Fennerty intends to party elsewhere.  She and her rebellious cohorts are planning on what promises to be an exclusive and even wilder event at the abandoned old mansion.  That night Shirley leads her friends to the “haunted” mansion.  Intent on giving them a good scare, she pretends to conjure up the demons said to inhabit Hull House.  But in the midst of her make-believe incantations, Angela, Queen of the Demons appears.  Suddenly, what was intended as an innocent evening of fun and games turns into a hell-raising, life-threatening ordeal…

Alone in the Dark: Director’s Cut
Based on the best-selling ATARI video game, Alone in the Dark: Director’s Cut debuts to DVD on September 25, 2007.  From infamous director Uwe Boll (House of the Dead), the film features an all-star cast including Christian Slater, Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff.  Alone in the Dark: Director’s Cut, newly re-mastered with 6.1 DTS ES and 5.1 Dolby EX audio, comes with special collectible packaging and features never before seen footage plus exciting bonus materials including new audio commentary, a new featurette and a never before seen Alone in the Dark art gallery.
