Clive Barker to Remake Hellraiser

Oh boy.
The original Hellraiser isn't perfect, but it's still a damn fine horror movie. Clive Barker made his cinematic debut with the flick, and he did an amazing job bringing his grotesque visions to life. I was never a big fan of the sequels, but at least they tried to give us some fresh, horrific imagery, instead of the same old slasher-deaths.
His own site, Revelations, confirmed that Barker is rewriting his original S&M horror opus for the Weinsteins (formerly of Miramax fame). He opted to get involved mostly because "if I don’t do it, it will be done in some way that I probably won’t like!"
He goes on to clarify his involvement: "I wouldn’t wish to direct – I only want to write and be a part of the producing team. I wouldn’t want to revisit something that I did as a director, something that I did all those years ago: that would be too, in a way, painful - not painful but weird, difficult, strange."
Not all the recent horror remakes have been awful, and Barker's involvement at the script and production level means that this has a good chance of staying true to his vision. Or if not his, some kind of vision. Please. Any kind of vision.
