May 29, 2006,

Got all the news on the DVD release of The Hills Have Eyes remake over the weekend.  Also got the artwork.  Read on for the entire press release that I received and check out the artwork there on the right and circle June 20th on your calendar so you’re first in line to grab one of these suckers up:

The lucky ones die first in producer Wes Craven’s (A Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream Trilogy) unflinchingly graphic reinterpretation of his cult-classic horror masterpiece THE HILLS HAVE EYES, arriving June 20 on DVD in two separate versions – the original theatrical release and the even more intense and gruesome “Unrated Version To Die For.” Directed by visionary newcomer Alexandre Aja (High Tension), THE HILLS HAVE EYES is the gripping and relentlessly brutal story of one family’s fight for survival in an ever-intensifying nightmare scenario that takes viewers to the pinnacle of terror with its blood-curdling and shocking ferocity.

First released almost 30 years ago by horror master Wes Craven, now this chilling horror story hurtles into the 21st century from director Aja, refashioning it with a raw, gut-wrenching realism and hard-driving visual style to terrify a whole new generation of filmgoers.  Starring veteran actors Ted Levine (The Silence Of The Lambs) and Kathleen Quinlan (Apollo 13), the film also boasts a stellar cast of up-and-coming talent including Emilie de Ravin (“Lost”), Aaron Stanford (X-Men 2) and Vinessa Shaw (Eyes Wide Shut).

Featuring additional uncensored gory footage added into the already ferociously frightening film, THE HILLS HAVE EYES “Unrated Version To Die For” DVD also includes director/writer commentary, Making-Of featurette, behind-the-scenes Production Diaries, music video and more.  For those with a weak stomach, THE HILLS HAVE EYES will also be available in the original theatrical version; both DVDs will be available at the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada.

DVD Features:

THE HILLS HAVE EYES “Unrated Version To Die For” DVD is presented in widescreen (2.35:1) with English Dolby Surround 5.1 and French / Spanish Dolby Surround with French and Spanish subtitles.  Bonus materials include:

Commentary by director Alexandre Aja, writer Gregory Levassuer and producer Marianne Maddalena

“Surviving the Hills: Making of The Hills Have Eyes” featurette

Production Diaries  (over 16 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage)

Fox Movie Channel presents “Casting Session”

Music Video – “Leave the Broken Hearts” by The Finalist

THE HILLS HAVE EYES original theatrical rated DVD is presented in both widescreen (2.35:1) and full screen (1.33:1) on a flipper disc with English Dolby Surround 5.1 and French / Spanish Dolby Surround with French & Spanish subtitles.  DVD bonus features include commentary by director Alexandre Aja, writer Gregory Levassuer and producer Marianne Maddalena, trailers and music video.

Synopsis:

When the typically dysfunctional Carter family sets off on a cross-country road trip, they are suddenly plunged into a horrific battle for their lives as they become stranded in a desolate stretch of New Mexico desert.  Miles from nowhere, they soon realize the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually home to the genetically-mutated offspring of miners who were contaminated by radioactive fallout…and they are the prey!
