Mar 8, 2006,

What was once on the front burner has now been put in the back pocket.  In a combo of news reports from Horror Channel and then Fangoria - it looks like the third installment in Victor Salva's Jeepers Creepers trilogy will be going into production, just not any time soon.

Front Burner:  Here's what actor Ray Wise had to say, "Victor Salva wants to do a third one, I'm pretty sure, and we have had some talks in the last couple of months. That's definitely on the front-burner." Like I said, it's not much, but the possibility is still there.

That was a few days ago.  Now this information reported by Fangoria...

Back Pocket:  Despite recent reports elsewhere, it doesn't look like the Creeper will be returning to the buffet line for a third helping of humans any time soon.  According to our sources, the recent merger between Sony and MGM has crippled plans for a proper wrapup in the proposed Jeepers Creepers trilogy, this despite the fact that the previous entries have proven to be solid moneymakers. At one time, Rogue Pictures offered series creator Victor Salva and Francis Ford Coppola's production shingle Zoetrope Pictures (also responsible for both Jeepers' films) a sizable budget to launch a Jeepers Creepers 3. A complicated framework of rights logistics between MGM and Sony prevented Rogue from moving forward, and Salva was left with no choice but to move on. He helmed an adaptation of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, starring Nick Nolte and Amy Smart, instead, and Zoetrope was left to seek funding of its own if it wished to see the Creeper fly again.

Fans need not worry.  It seems to be on everyone's tongue, so eventually it will be done because the demand is there.  Just don't hold your breath.  Jeepers Creepers 3 will be coming, just not so soon.
