Feb 13, 2006,

Final Destination 3 didn’t make number one this weekend although it was at the top on Friday.  The Pink Panther though held a little stronger for the long haul and knocked FD3 to number two.

The film did end up bringing in 20.1 million which actually sets a franchise record beating the opening for both of the earlier installments.  When A Stranger Calls, last weeks number one dropped dramatically to number 5 and Underworld:  Evolution hung on to number 10.  That gives us our 3 genre films in the top 10.

Although the film could not hold the number one position I am sure that New Line is thrilled by breaking the franchise record with the opening and lets hope that the film can have some legs and linger around the top for a week or two.
